Adaptive Medias Buys StartEngine's Ember

Irvine-based online advertising firm Adaptive Medias is announcing this morning that it has acquired Ember, one of the companies incubated out of the StartEngine startup accelerator in Los Angeles. Financial terms of the buy were not announced. Ember was a developer of real time, programmatic bidding software for the advertising industry, and used machine learning algorithms and contextual and semantic software engines for online advertising bidding. As part of the acquisition, StartEngine founders Howard Marks and Paul Kessler have both joined Adaptive Medias' advisory board. Ember co-founder and CEO Nic Borensztein has become VP of Engineering, and co-founder Damian Ancukiewicz has become Chief Architect for Adaptive Medias. Adaptive Medias said this is the first exit of a company incubated out of StartEngine.
