Americans Are Online Sellers

The latest report from the Pew Internet and American Life project finds that 17% of Americans online, approximately 25 million, have use the internet to sell things. In addition, the project found that online classifieds are showing an 80 percent growth in online visitors, with particular growth in the popularity of the Craiglist online web sites. The Pew survey also found that access to online auction sites has stabilized at around 24% of Internet users accessing those sites, with most growth from the growth in the overall size of the Internet population. The Pew Internet and American Life project results were based on a random telephone survey of 2,251 adults.
