Apani Takes On Virtualization Security

Brea-based security software firm Apani is taking on server virtualization software, saying this week that it has launched a new product targeted at protecting both virtual and physical machines. The company said that its EpiForce VM product is targeted for use in virtual environments, to isolate both physical and virtual servers into logical security zones. The new security offering is similar to the company's existing IPsec/VPN security products. The firm said its software--which is compatible with the popular VMware ESX Server virtualization package--offers a centralized management console and is compatible with VMotion and moving virtual servers. The firm said the software will be available early Q2. Apani is backed by Niigata Seimitsu Co. and Unicharm Corporation.
