Boingo Expands Network In China

Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, the operator of a global network of Wi-Fi access points, reported Friday that it has inked a deal with China Telecommunications Corporation to extend its access in China. Boingo said the new deal provides access to hotspots in all of the provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions of China, and boosts its total hotspots to 185,000 globally. Boingo provides a single login and billing plan which gives users access to hotspots around the world, in conjunction with a network of Wi-Fi hotspot operators. Boingo said it is seeing growing user demand for Wi-Fi in the Asia Pacific region. China Telecommunications provides Wi-Fi hotspots in such locations as airports, Howard Johnson and Holiday Inn hotels, KFC, McDonald's and Starbucks in China, in addition to hotels, restaurants, and elsewhere.
