Boingo To Deploy In New York's Subway System

Los Angeles-based Boingo, which operates a network of Wi-Fi internet access hotspots worldwide, has inked another deal to manage and operate Wi-Fi services. This time, the company said it has reached an agreement with Transit Wireless to manage the Wi-Fi services within the New York City Subway System. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Boingo said the deal will eventually allow the more than 1.6 billion annual subway riders of the New York City Transit Authority to connect to the Internet using their smartphones, e-readers, tablets, an dother wireless devices. The service is rolling out over the next five years. Boingo said its managed hotspots will also include access to its roaming partners, which include Skype, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.
