Broadcom Opens Drivers For Android Development

Irvine-based Broadcom said Thursday that it is opening up the source code for the firm's BCM4325 chip drivers, to allow developers to support Google's Android operating system. According to Broadcom, the software which controls its combo chip is now a standard component of the latest Android operating system. Broadcom's chip supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and FM wireless communications. Broadcom is a member of the Open Handset Alliance, which develops the Android mobile phone software.
