Cognition Raises $2.7M

Los Angeles-based Cognition, which develops search engine technology for understanding English language queries, said Monday that it has raised $2.7M in a new financing round. The firm said the funding came from Draper Associates, Tim Draper, Fingerhut Ventures, and the firm's CEO, Scott Jarus. Cognition is developing semantic natural language processing technology, which uses concepts and meaning in web pages to improve search results. The firm has previously raised funding from the Tech Coast Angels, and was once known as Meaning Master. Jarus was previously CEO of j2 Global Communications. More information »
