DTS Moves Into PC Market

Agoura Hills-based Digital Theater Systems (DTS) has launched a new move into the PC audio market. The company said yesterday that it has inked partnerships with C-Media Electronics and Realtek Semiconductor to offer DTS decoding on chip sets for PC motherboards, PCI, and USB soundcards. The technology provides multi-channel and stereo content output to DTS-enabled audio systems via S/PDIF digital audio outputs. The technology transforms stereo content such as MP3, WMA, and CD audio into 7.1 channel surround sound. DTS technology is used in theater and home theatre systems for surround sound audio processing.
