Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong Launches New Molecular Medicine Effort

Billionaire Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong said late last week that he has launched a new, nonprofit effort focused on genomic research aimed at pediatric diseases. According to Soon-Shiong, he will soon launch the Chan Soon-Shiong Institute of Molecular Medicine (CSSIOMM), a new effort which will use personalized genomic and proteomic medicine to help enhance care for all patients, with an initial focus on pediatrics. The new nonprofit will partner with the Phoenix Children's Hospital on a new, Chan Soon-Shiong Children's Precision Medicine Institute. Soon-Shiong has dozens of different ventures in the life sciences area, all run out of NantWorks.
