Entropic Boosts Guidance

San Diego-based semiconductor maker Entropic Communications, which makes chips for the home networking and entertainment market, said Monday that it is boosting its guidance for revenue in Q3 of 2010. According to the firm, it is upping its third quarter revenue range to between $60M and $61M, up from an earlier guidance of between $51M and $53M. The firm cited market expansion and product ramp at tier 1 pay-TV providers, which it says is driving demand for its home networking and direct broadcast satellite products. The firm said the new revenue estimates are an increase of between 47 percent and 50 percent from its second quarter revenues, which were $40.7M. Entropic is publicly held, trading on the Nasdaq as ENTR.
