FreedomPop Aims At Low Income Families Through Partnership

Can free Internet help low income families? Los Angeles-based free broadband provider FreedomPop hopes so, with a new partnership with a nonprofit called Connect2Compete. According to the two, they are launching a new partnership to deliver free Internet to low income families. Connext2Compete is a nonprofit which looks to bring affordable Internet, computers, and other resources to underserved communities, and is already working with cable Internet providers to offer up low cost high speed internet to families with students qualifying for free and reduced school lunch.

According to the two, the partnership will allow Connect2Compete to offer up low cost devices and free Internet to low income Americans. They will offer up discounted devices on mobile and Home internet devices, and 1Gb of free home Internet access to those low income customers. The two said they will start rolling out their services in FreedomPop's markets in the next few months.
