Hack4LA Winners Get $25,000 For Civic Hacking Efforts

Hack4LA, the recent hackathon which pitted Los Angeles developers, students, and residents to come up with ideas an apps to tap into open government data, has create a site listing out the winners and participants in the event. The Hackaton, which awarded over $25,000 in prizes to participants, said that the top project at the recent event was Hack4Jobs, an app which helps match resumes with available jobs; second place was Urbanfruit.Ly, which lets gardeners exchange produce with others; with third place going to Boyle Hights Connect, an app which helps residents of Boyle Heights communicate and connect with hospitals, schools and government organizations in the area. The hackathon said that it had over 400 people attend, and had 40 apps created. The app was held June 1st and 2nd.
