IEEE Takes Stand On Offshoring

The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers-USA (www.ieeeusa.org) announced Thursday its position on the offshoring debate. The group, which represents more than 225,000 electrical, electronic, computer, and software engineers here in the US, stated that offshoring contributes to high unemployment levels among U.S. technologists, and poses a serious, long-term challenge to the nation's technological and innovative leadership. The group called for a new US program to help displaced high-tech workers, and for a national strategy to maintain U.S. technological leadership and promote job growth in the United States.
