Kurion Opens New Office In Toyko

Irvine-based Kurion, the venture-backed startup which has been contributing its technology to the cleanup of the Fukushima nuclear power plant, is setting up a new office in Tokyo, to support the company's continued work at the devastated nuclear power site. According to Kurion, the new office will within walking distance of the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry (METI) and the International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID), and will support the company's expanded role in the cleanup of the nuclear power plant, which was disabled by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan three years ago. Kurion is still working on the plant, and recently acquired Vista Engineering Technologies, the company which is developing the robots which are inspecting and repairing leaks in the reactor containment vessels at the nuclear power plant. Kurion has been involved since day one with the cleanup at Fukushima Daiichi. The company is venture backed by Lux Capital, Firelake Capital Management and Acadia Woods Partners.
