Kyocera To Double Solar Module Output

Kyocera, which maintains its North American headquarters in San Diego, reported today that it is planning to expand production of its solar modules to double its current capacity. The increased production is a result of global demand for solar power systems, a result of both increasing consumer awareness of solar power and healthy rebates and tax incentives for the systems, particularly in California. Kyocera said that capacity of its plants will be increased to 500 megawatts of capacity by March 2011, up from its currently capacity of 240MW a year. The firm will also spend $250M to expand its plants and equipment. Kyocera manufactures its solar modules in Mexico, Japan, the Czech Republic, and China.
