Linspire Upgrades Linux Software Install

San Diego-based Linspire, a developer of a desktop, consumer-focused version of the Linux operating system, said yesterday that it plans to expand the firm's click-and-run download software to most popular LInux desktop distributions. The firm said that it is looking to standardize software installation across Linux distributions based on its service, which previously only ran on the firm's Linspire and Freespire distributions. The company said it is looking to shield users from the complexity of Debian and RPM-based installation. Debian and RPM files are the standard packaging for most Linux binaries.
