Los Angeles TV Stations In Bandwidth Pilot

Two Los Angeles television stations -- KLCS (Channel 58) and KJLA (Channel 57.1 Digital) -- are in a bid to share the bandwidth they are currently occupying , as part of an industry experiment on opening up new spectrum for commercial, mobile broadband. According to widespread reports, the move is part of an industry effort to study the feasibility of sharing TV airwaves and opening up more bandwidth for wireless carriers--who are hungry for more 4G bandwidth. The two stations are small--KLCS broadcasts public PBS shows and content from the Los Angeles Unified School District, and KJLA broadcasts mainly Vietnamese language content--but the effort is apparently an important pilot in figuring out how to reclaim more bandwidth for the broadband wireless industry.
