March Madness Breaks Online Records

CBS SportsLine is reporting that the NCAA's March Madness video on demand live video has had over 14 million streams of live video from the 2006 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball championship. The online Internet sports media site claimed today that the number surpasses the total number of streams served and visits recorded for any previous live event in Internet history. CBS said that over four million visitors have visited its web site in the first four days, and over 1.15 million users have registered for the web site. SportSline is streaming live video of the first 56 games of the championship for free, a change from last year's subscription-based access. This year, CBS SportsLine is paying for the streaming through sponsorships from corporate advertisers.
