MaxLinear Launches New Optical Driver

Carlsbad-based MaxLinear, which develops radio frequency and mixed signal semiconductors, said this morning that it has launched a new product aimed at the long haul optical network market. MaxLinear said it has launched the MxL9207, a quad-channel Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3) Mach-Zehnder (MZ) modulator driver for next-generation 100Gbps optical DWDM coherent systems. The company said the new device is sampling now, and will be in production in Q4 of 2016. MaxLinear said the component is being evaluated by "leading" telecommunication equipment OEMS for use in their products.
