Metacloud Debuts OpenStack Private Cloud Services

Pasadena-based MetaCloud, which provides fully managed, OpenStack-based cloud infrastructure for operating private clouds, launched today at the OpenStack Summit, with the backing of Storm Ventures. MetaCloud is headed by Steve Curry, the former head of Yahoo's global storage operations. MetaCloud's co-founders also include Sean Lynch, former Sr. Vice President of Technology Operations at Ticketmaster Entertainment. MetaCloud's fully managed services helps companies deploy their own, OpenStack cloud computing systems. OpenStack is an emerging standard which lets developers create cloud computing applications which are portable across different Internte service providers, private clouds, and more. OpenStack is based on the cloud computing infrastructure at Rackspace, and is very similar to competing offerings from Amazon Web Services. Details on the funding by Storm Ventures was not announced.
