Music Industry Continues Internet2 Offensive

The Recording Industry Association of America has filed an additional wave of lawsuits against student file swappers on the next generation Internet2 network, adding an additional 20 new schools to the list. The RIAA filed an initial round of copyright infringement lawsuits against students who were using the new, high speed research network to swap music last month. The lawsuits targets users of the i2hub file swapping application, and cover 91 students attending schools ranging from Boston University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvard University, UCLA, UCSD, and the University of Southern California, among others. The industry group also said that it has filed an additional 649 lawsuits against individuals distributing copyrighted music on the Internet using KaZaa, LimeWire and Grokster.
