NSF Funds Material Sciences Program at UCSB

The University of California, Santa Barbara, is reporting that the National Science Foundation has selected the university to host a new center for materials research. The new International Center for Materials Research will receive $3.5M over 5 years to promote global excellence in materials science. and engineering. The center will provide an international forum for scientists and engineers with interests in materials science, and will develop workshops, exchange programs, visitors programs, and summers schools in the area. UCSB's Tony Cheetham, director of the UCSB Material Research Lab will head the center.
