NSF Funds San Diego Cybersecurity Research Center

The National Science Foundation (NSF) announced yesterday that it has funded two new cybersecurity centers, to study Internet Epidemiology and "Ecology". One of those cyber centers will be headed by Stefan Savage of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in conjunction with an associate at UC Berkeley. The Center for Internet Epidemiology and Defenses will be funded $6.2M over five years for researching ways to eliminate the worms and viruses that plague the Internet. The funding is part of the NSF's $30M Cyber Trust program, which aims at promoting research into more dependable, accountable, and secure computer and network systems.
