San Diego-based utility storage service provider Nirvanix said Wednesday morning that it has placed its service into general availability. The firm, which provides a storage service which is accessible via software interfaces, competes against Amazon.com's S3 storage services. The firm also said that it has opened up beta availability of media transcoding, image manipulation, file search, and sideloading of files. Nirvanix provides storage through a web service, and is venture funded by Mission Ventures, Valhalla Partners, and Windward Ventures.
