Playing Video Games at School

The University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television and Electronic Arts today unveiled the grand opening of the school's new EA Interactive Entertainment Program and EA Game Innovation Lab. The new lab, based at the Robert Zemeckis Center for Digital Arts, provides a research space and think tank based around game design, play, usability, and prototyping. The school said that the lab's intent is to push games beyond the currently defined genres, markets, and play patterns, creating a body of knowledge about players, games, and game playing. EA made a multi-million dollar donation to the USC School of Cinema-Television in March to create the lab, as well as to fund a Master of Fine Arts program and an endowed faculty chair within the school.
