QUALCOMM Unveils New CDMA2000 Single Chip Solutions

San Diego-based QUALCOMM has unveiled a new line of single-chip solutions for the CDMA2000 entry level market. The company announced that its new QSC family is targeted at affordable voice and basic multimedia to the entry level market. The new chips combine baseband modem, multimedia engines, radio transceiver and power management functionality on a single chip. The QSC6010, QSC6020 and QSC6030 chips are pin- and software API compatible allowing manufacturers to adapt their designs as needed. Qualcomm is eyeing the use of its technology in China, India, Latin America and Southeast Asia with the low cost chips. The various chips support features such as polyphonic ring tones, capability of playing MP3 music files, and integrated digital cameras.
