Qualcomm Invests $40M In China

San Diego-based Qualcomm said Thursday that it has committed to investing $40M in China, investing in four different Chinese companies and one venture capital fund. Qualcomm said it invested in 7Invensun, which is developing eye-tracking products; Chukong Technologies, in the mobile entertainment area; inPlug, smart home devices; Unisound, voice recognition and processing technology; as well as investing in China Walden Venture Investments, L.P.. China Walden Ventures Investment is a venture capital fund focused on investing in semiconductor and semiconductor-related businesses in China. Qualcomm said the investments come from a dedicated, $150M Chinese investment fund it announced earlier this year.
