Quantum Fuel Systems Consolidates Facilities

Irvine-based Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies, which develops powertrain and other energy-related technology, said Thursday that it has consolidated its two California operational facilities into a Lake Forest campus. The firm--which is behind the hybrid powertrain being used in plug-in hybrid car maker Fisker Automotive--said the new location gives it approximately 100,000 square feet, for its product development, engineering, advanced research, and other facilities. Quantum Fuel Systems owns around 30% of high profile hybrid car maker Fisker Automotive, which is a joint venture of the firm with Fisker Coachbuild. Fisker itself has also raised funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
