RoyaltyShare Plans New Digital Music Tracking Service

San Diego-based RoyaltyShare said this morning it will be developing a new system for tracking limited downloads and interactive streaming. According to RoyaltyShare, it will be rolling out a platform which tracks and automates the tracking of music subscriptions and streaming, based on the recent agreement by the music industry on revenue sharing for streamed music. RoyaltyShare that the platform is currently under development and will be available in Q4. The music industry inked a deal Tuesday to pay artists 10.5% of revenue for limited download and interactive streaming, in a deal between the Digital Media Association (DiMA), the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and the Songwriters Guild of America (SGA). The new tracking system is in addition to RoyaltyShare's existing software for tracking digital music purchases and royalties. RoyaltyShare is backed by Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments, Trident Capital, and the William Morris Agency.
