Salesforce.com Buys Sendia For $15M

Salesforce.com has purchased Santa Monica-based Sendia, for $15M in cash, adding Sendia's mobile Salesforce.com applications to its lineup of products. Salesforce.com said that it had acquired Sendia to mobile-enable more than 60 of its AppExchange applications. Salesforce.com launched a new offering, AppExchange Mobile, as part of its acquisition of Sendia, saying that the new product will reduce the challenge of developing mobile applications for its developers. The AppExchange platform will allow developers to write their software once for the platform, allowing that software to run on any mobile device, instead of having to custom-write applications for each mobile device. Sendia has been developing wireless applications for Salesforce.com, and was backed by venture capital firms Globespan and Mobius Venture Capital. Sendia employs 35 in Santa Monica. More information »
