Slacker Inks Deals With Music Labels

San Diego-based Slacker, the online personalized music streaming startup backed by Austin Ventures, Centennial Ventures, Mission Ventures, and Sevin Rosen, announced a number of music content deals with music labels Thursday afternoon. Slacker said that it has inked agreements with EMI Music, Univeral Music Group, Warner Music Group, along with independent labels IODA, The Orchard, Beggars Group and Matador Records, IRIS, Ubiquity Records and Sanctuary Group PLC. The deals call for Slacker to carry the labels' content on its personal radio service. Financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed. Slacker operates a service that allows users to create their own streaming music stations, which are available via the web or Slacker's own music player. The new content deals follow an existing agreement the firm has with SONY BMG for its music content.
