Snap Powers Mashable

Pasadena-based Snap Technologies, the Idealab startup which provides web widgets and web search tools, said Tuesday that social networking blog site Mashable has incorporated the firm's Snap Shots widget into its site. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Mashable is a popular, Web 2.0 web site which is popular with the technology crowd. Snap's Snap Shots widget allows web publishers to show a preview of web links before users click through to a site. The widget includes advertising; the firm shares ad revenue from the widget with web publishers using the software. Snap Technologies is venture backed by Idealab and Mayfield; the firm last raised a round of venture capital in December of 2007, worth $4.1M.
