Staccato Communications Raises $17.5M

San Diego-based Staccato Communications, which develops ultra wideband (UWB) wireless chips, said today that it has raised an additional $17.5M in equity financing. The new funding came from Allegis Capital, Bay Partners, Charles River Ventures, Formative Ventures, interwest Partners, and Vision Capital. Staccato said that it will use the funding to launch its first generation, 100nm single-chip products. Staccato's wireless chip supports wireless USB, Bluetooth, WiMedia, and other wireless protocols. The firm also said that it has received WiMedia Platform Certification for its CMOS device.
