THQ, Mattel In Video Game Deal

Agoura Hills-based THQ and El Segundo-based toy maker Mattel said this morning that the two are in a new, multi-year alliance focused on developing and publishing video games based on Mattel's toys. FInancial details of the arrangement were not disclosed. THQ and Mattel said the agreement will allow THQ to produce and distribute video games based on Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Fisher-Price toys, as well as other properties like Monster High, Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots, Masters of the Universe, Polly Pocket, and others. The two said the multi-platform deal will include consoles and handhelds, personal computers, mobile devices, social networking, and online gaming portals such as Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and Nintendo WiiWare. The two said they are already in development on "multiple games", with the first titles to appear in the next holiday season.
