Tribogenics Gets Funding From Nikon

Los Angeles-based Tribogenics, which is developing handheld, X-ray technology, has scored a strategic investment from Nikon, via its subsidiary, Nikon Americas Inc. Size of the investment was not announced. Tribogenics is a spinout of technology originally developed at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The deal also included joint technology, business and marketing development programs. Tribogenics is led by Dale Fox, and is initially targeting its devices for use in non-destructive testing (NDT) and PMI of metals and alloys, although the technology has potential in other scientific, security, and even medical applications.
