Universal Electronics Buys RCS Technology

Santa Ana-based Universal Electronics announced this morning that it has acquired Rancho Cordova-based Residential Control Systems, Inc. (RCS Technology). RCS is a designer and manufacturer of energy management and control products. Universal Electronics will pay approximately $9M in cash plus earnout over the next five years. Universal Electronics said the acquisition will expand its portfolio of home sensing, monitoring and control solutions, including adding programmable communicating thermostats (PCTs), advanced HVAC controls, energy monitoring and control devices, gateways, in-home displays and user interfaces.
