Verimatrix Rolls Out Digital Watermarking

San Diego-based startup Verimatrix has rolled out new digital watermarking technology this week, with a new components for its digital watermarking system. The company's Verimatrix Content Authority System (VAS) now provides electronic fingerprinting of video content on set-top boxes, encoding a digital watermark as it is played on a set-top box. Verimatrix provides Public Key Infrastructure and certificate-based watermarking of digital video, used to track media file usage and transmission. The company says that its watermark technology is embedded in the video stream and survives transmission from digital to analog output, allowing companies to track the source of piracy. The company is backed by Mission Ventures and Siemens Venture Capital. More information »
