ViaSat Certifies Crypto Chip With NSA

Carlsbad-based satellite networking technology developer ViaSat reported this morning that it has certified the company's security, systems-on-a-chip technology with the National Security Agency (NSA). According to ViaSat, its KOV-55 Security-System-on-a-Chip has been certified to to secure voice and data up to the Top Secret level for Multifunctional Information Distribution System Low-Volume Terminals (MIDS LVT) operating over a Link 16 network. ViaSat says it is producing approximately 10,000 of its product as part of a contract with the U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. The chip is being used as part of a system with the U.S. Navy, Marines Corps, Army, and others.
