Websense Acquires SurfControl For $400M

San Diego-based Websense said late Thursday that it is acquiring SurfControl PLC, a provider of web and email security, for approximately $400M. The deal calls for Websense SC Operations Limited, a subsidiary of Websense, to acquire all of the shares of SurfControl for 700 pence in cash. The deal is expected to close in four months, following regulatory approval in both the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Websense said it will finance the acquisition through existing cash, and debt from Bank of America and Morgan Stanley Senior Funding Inc.
