WiSpry Ships Chips

Irvine-based WiSpry, a developer of programmable radio frequency semiconductors, said Monday that the firm has sampled its first products to what the firm described as one of the largest cellular handset manufacturers in the world. According to WiSpry, the product combines the firm's RF-MEMS digital capacitor technology based on an RF-CMOS manufacturing process. WiSpry's CMOS-based RF components are used for wireless front-ends. The company expects its products will result in a need for fewer antennas in handsets, lower power consumption, and cost savings. WiSpry is venture backed by American River Ventures, Arkian, Blueprint Ventures, DoCoMo Capital, Hotung Venture Capital, In-Q-Tel, L Capital Partners, Shepherd Ventures, Sid R. Bass Associates, the Tech Coast Angels, and Western Technology Investment.
