Zeebo Raises $17M

San Diego-based Zeebo, a developer of a wireless, digital entertainment and education system, initially targeted at the global market, has raised $17M in a new funding round, according to a regulatory filing by the firm today. Source of the new funding was not disclosed. Zeebo has previously raised funding from Qualcomm. Details on the new round were not announced by the company, which says on its website that it is currently working on a "next generation platform" slated for launch in 2012, also said that it is "realigning its business operations to pursue opportunities in education with a reduced emphasis on gaming." Zeebo is headed by Mike Yuen, formerly senior director of games and services at Qualcomm. The filing indicates a single investor participated in the funding. More information »
