Newport Beach-based patent firm Acacia Research said Thursday that it has signed Sony Corporation as a licensee of its audio/video enhancement and synchronization, and image resolution enhancement technologies. Acacia had filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the consumer electronics giant for its use of a noise reduction filtering system for digital radios and video displays. Acacia has been pursuing companies using its broad portfolio of patents to file patent infringement lawsuits.
