Accumetrics Raises $8.25M

San Diego-based Accumetrics has raised $8.25M in Series C funding. The firm, which is developing diagnostic tests for verifying platelet function in patients, raised the funding from RiverVest Venture Partners and Kaiser Venture Partners. The firm's previous investors also participated, including Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, KB Partners, and PTV Sciences. The firm also said that an undisclosed private corporate investor participated in the funding. The company's diagnostic test is used to evaluate platelet function and patient response to such drugs as aspirin and Plavix/clopidogrel, two therapies used in treatment of coronary disease.
