AcuFocus Sees $65M

Irvine-based AcuFocus, a maker of corneal inlays for treating presbyopia, announced this morning that it has raised $65M in a funding round. The ronud was led by Cowen Healthcare Royalty Partners, and also included SV Life Sciences, Versant Ventures, Carlyle Group, Accuitive Medical Ventures, Bausch & Lomb, and Medtronic. AcuFocus said the funding will go towards scaling its business and expanding into new markets. AcuFocus currently is available in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and South America, and is in investigational device status in the United Sates.
