Monrovia, California-based AeroVironment said Monday that it has rolled out a new home electric vehicle charging station product, the EVSE-RS Plug-In. The developer of EV charging stations (and unmanned aircraft) said its new device plugs into a dedicated, 240 volt outlet, letting users plug in their station anywhere without requiring hard-wiring of the charging station to a home. AeroVironment said it developed the new device to make it easier for plug-in-hybrid nad battery electric vehicle owners to take their charging stations to their relatives' homes, or vacation homes with 240V outlets. Most electric vehicle chargers require installation by a electrician and a dedicated circuit for the charging station. AeroVironment said it is selling the unit through Amazon.com, and also directly.
