AeroVironment Wins $5.9M Contract For Unmanned Aircraft

Simi Valley-based unmanned aircraft systems developer Aerovironment reported a $5.9M contract win this week, saying it signed a deal to deliver its Puma 3 AE aircraft systems to a European allied nation. According to the company, the contact came in the form of a U.S. Department of Defense Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract award. The unmanned aircraft are expected to be delivered by April of 2021. AeroVironment says its Puma 3 AE has a wingspan of 9.2 feet, weighs 15 pounds and can operate for up to 2.5 hours, with a range of 12.4 miles to 37.2 miles, depending on the antenna used.
