    Akamai Buys Nine Systems For $160M


    Akamai is buying San Diego-based Nine Systems, a provider of rich media production and publishing tools, in a deal worth approximately $160M. The companies said today that Akamai will pay 3.1M shares of Akamai common stock and $7M in cash for Nine Sytems in a merger transaction. Nine Systems develops software used for production and publishing of content online, which publishers used to manage their rich media. Nine Systems was advised by Merriman Curhan Ford & Co. in the transaction.
