Allergan Buys Serica Technologies


Irvine-based Allergan has acquired Serica Technologies, a developer of biomaterials for the aesthetic and reconstructive surgery market, the firm said late last week. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. According to Serica, the acquisition did not include the firm's orthopaedic or veterinary products, which were spun out to new firm Alacer Technologies. Serica was backed by Morningside Technology Ventures, Prism VentureWorks, and Ivy Capital Partners, and had raised around $24M. Serica is based in Boston.
