Amp'd Mobile Gets Strategic Investment from MTV
In its second major content deal this week, Amp'd Mobile announced this morning that MTV Network has entered a strategic alliance witht the firm to provide entertainment content to 3G wireless platforms. Amp'd Mobile, a wireless firm centered around the youth market, will carry original content from MTV, including Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, CMT, Spike TV, and MTV's other properties. According to the companies the alliance covers joint marketing and promotions, and a strategic investment by MTV into Amp'd. Jason Hirschhorn, Chief Digital Officer of MTV Networks has been appointed to the board of directors. The deal includes video clips, ringtones, screensavers, wallpapers and more from MTV's properties. Amp'd is officially launching its wireless services online this Thursday.
