Amp'd Mobile Raises $67M

Mobile content entertainment company Amp'd Mobile is announcing this morning that it has raised $67m in venture funding from Universal Music Group, Highland Cpaital Partners, Columbia Capital, and Redpoint Ventures. The firm said that it is bringing next-generation broadband wireless services and applications to 18-to-35-year-olds. The company will use the new funding to launch operations, content licensing, and marketing activities. The venture deal calls for Universal Music Group to provide content from its key artists. Amp'd is headed by Peter Adderton, who founded Boost Mobile. The firm said that it will launch its services later this year. More information »
